Before we jump into the recipe, let’s talk a bit about Salmon. Did you know? Salmon is one of the most popular seafood species in the world, with a commercial value of $688 million in 2017. The omega-3 fatty acids in the fish are prized for their health benefits. It is a great source of protein, high in B vitamins, loaded with selenium and potassium, reduces the risk of heart, wards off inflammation, protects the brain health, etc.
There are six different types of commercially available salmons namely King/Chinook, Sockeye/Red, Coho/Silver, Pink/Humpback, Chum/Silverbrite, and Atlantic/Salmo Salar.
Wild vs. Farmed Salmon
Salmon captured in natural habitats such as oceans, rivers, and lakes are known as wild salmon. However, farmed salmon makes up a large portion of the salmon sold now around the world. To grow larger fish, fish farms use a method known as aquaculture, in which fish are fed a processed meal high in fat and protein.
Sauté onion and garlic in cooking oil for 6-7 minutes
Pour the tomato purée and simmer for 6 minutes
Add the fish fillets pieces
